raw food wednesdays

16 Nov

This summer we lived with two amazing raw vegan foodies who deepened our interest and education in the amazing benefits of this lifestyle. we drastically increased our fruit and greens intake and were eventually averaging 50-60% raw, often doing days of 100%. we felt awesome! (less sluggish after meals, more mental clarity, increased energy). since we’ve been home in ontario, we still eat a lot of raw meals and fruit but have been consuming heavy, cooked meals also (and feeling it) as the season changes and we become stagnant. one day we would like to make it to a very high raw, low fat diet but for now are trying to increase our living food intake and attempt to make it through the winter. we’ve decided to make the middle of the week our ‘raw food wednesday’ where we are 100% raw, try out a few recipes and post everything we make/eat. we started today-
Breakfast
green/fruit smoothie:

something along the lines of..
banana/date/berry/maca/spirulina/orange juice/celery- katie’s was without orange juice and celery
Snack

100% live food, vegan bar- sooo yummy
Lunch

Dinner

soup:
-white unpasturized miso, warmed to just above room temperature
salad with dressing:
-1 tsp white unpasturized miso
-1/2 cup olive oil
-1 clove garlic
-2 to 4 stalks celery
-water to dilute and lemon juice to taste
*blend in blender*

guacamole wraps:
-2 mashed avocados
-1 chopped tomato
-1 minced garlic clove
-1 tsp dried dill
-1 tbs fresh lime juice
-romaine lettuce

and a few bottles of shared ‘cosmic tea’ throughout the day 😉

Great idea for a regular feature! I’ve been upping my “greens” intake by eating lettuce leaves with chili and lentil curries (kinda like your guacamole wraps). My boyfriend has been making kimchi this semester too which takes some time but is SO good and really healthy for you. It’s uncooked but does ferment for three to five days so I’m not sure if you’d be able to eat it on a raw day? Anyway, the recipe is posted on my blog under ‘food’ tag a while back! cheers
